The BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP and Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Electronics & Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrashekhar today said that the BJP-NDPP alliance in Nagaland has a vision to transform the landscape for the youth of Nagaland.
Addressing a press conference in Dimapur on February 20, the Union Minister said that the vision includes a landscape where young Nagas are trained in skills that will make them industry ready and future ready.
The 2023 elections are important, he stated, as it presents an opportunity to continue the journey of development that the BJP-NDPP alliance has started since coming to power.
He further spoke of how the Indian economy has progressed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra. From a precarious position in 2014, India now stands as the 5th largest and one of the fastest growing economies of the world, he noted. He stated that over the past years, the Prime Minister and the BJP have worked to transform the entire landscape for young Indians and Nagas.
The next 5 years, Chandrashekhar mentioned, are years that will represent huge opportunity for the young people of Nagaland. He informed that the Prime Minister has announced Rs 8,000 Cr for skilling young people.
The Union Minister said that 80,000 to 90,000 youth from Nagaland will be skilled in industry ready and future ready skills that will provide them self employment opportunities. A digital India start up hub like the one in Kohima will be in every district of Nagaland, he added. This, he stated will enable the building of a talent pool in Nagaland, thereby attracting investment which will help young Nagas establish start ups. The skill developing initiatives will also extend to other sectors like healthcare and hospitality, he added.
For this to happen, he recognized that law and order and peace has a direct link to investment; and invest has a direct relation to employment, which affects economic growth.
On the alliance with the NDPP, Chandrashekhar said that their tie up is based on a common framework and vision to improve the state and transform the lives of the people.
