Directs DCs to activate District Security Co-ordination Committees to prevent ‘unnatural influx’

Kohima, August 12 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton today stated that the civil administration and the police department are closely monitoring the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh and prepared for any possible impact on Nagaland.

The Deputy CM and Home Minister Patton is keenly aware of the potential effects of the crisis and its fallout in Nagaland, according to a press release from the Media Cell, Deputy CM’s Office.

To prevent an unnatural influx of migrants into the State, the Deputy Commissioners of all districts have been instructed to activate the District Security Co-ordination Committees immediately, it said.

They have also been advised to maintain heightened vigilance in the border areas and to coordinate closely with their counterparts in Assam, it added.

The release further noted that Patton has issued instructions to keep all communication channels open for prompt sharing of information.

The State Government, led by the district administration and police, is attentive to the unfolding situation and with support from robust village administration, civil society organisations, and the public, Nagaland is “well-prepared to deal with any situation that may arise,” it added.
