Union Minister reviews Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Nagaland

Kohima, November 19 (MExN): Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, held a review meeting on centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) in Nagaland at the Secretariat Conference Hall in Kohima. The meeting, attended by senior officials and representatives from various departments, focused on assessing the progress and challenges in implementing these schemes across the state.

Welcoming the Minister and attendees, Chief Secretary Dr. J. Alam emphasized that the review aimed to provide an overview of programs being executed with central assistance. He noted that discussions covered flagship initiatives, exploration schemes, and the progress of aspirational blocks. Dr. Alam also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in Nagaland, such as four-lane highways, railway connectivity, and other significant developments supported by the central government.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on a two-day visit to the state, assured that the challenges and suggestions raised during the deliberations would be brought to the attention of the Central Ministry for further action.

Home Commissioner Vyasan R, who chaired the meeting, acknowledged the state’s unique challenges and thanked all participants for their input. Presentations by representatives from Kiphire, Zunheboto, and Noklak shed light on the progress and issues in Aspirational Districts and Blocks.

The Agriculture Department presented an update on the implementation of the National Oil Palm Mission launched by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, while the Planning Department provided insights into the status of centrally sponsored schemes for 2024-25.

Departments implementing CSS and representatives from aspirational districts shared their experiences, highlighting obstacles faced during implementation. The Minister commended their efforts and reaffirmed the central government’s commitment to supporting Nagaland’s development initiatives.
