Longleng, March 18 (MExN): The taxi and bus fares in Longleng was revised after a meeting in relation to fixation of rate for taxi/bus was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Longleng on March 16.
Chaired by ADC Longleng, D Robin, the meeting deliberated on the rates and revised the same. (See table)
The revised rates are to come into force with immediate effect.
Further, it was decided that maintenance of vehicles will be the responsibility of the taxi/bus owners and inspections will be carried out from time to time. The owner will be penalized in the event of negligence in maintenance resulting in risking the lives of the passengers.
The house further decided to ban overloading of vehicles and added that the passenger luggage should not exceed the maximum weight (10 kg), compliance of which would be strictly carried out.
It further decided that intoxicated drivers will be penalized. Ferrying of illegal items has also been banned, violation of which shall be dealt with as per the provision of law.
