Tovihoto inaugurates 132/33KV 25 MVA transformer, 11 other projects in Wokha

WOKHA, JAN 19 (NPN) : Power adviser H Tovihoto Ayemi inaugurated 132/33 KV, 25 MVA transformer and bay equipment at 132/33 KV Wokha sub-station along with 11 other downstream connectivity projects under of North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP) Tranche -1 on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ayemi hoped that with the inauguration of multiple projects, the power department would be able to provide uninterrupted power to consumers, while urging the people to generously donate/provide land for development projects so that government departments could implement more such projects for public benefit.

He also appealed to the people to check power theft, ensure timely payment of electricity bills and initiate awareness programmes to conserve electricity for common cause. Ayemi thanked power departments officials, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Technogrid and others involved for timely completing the work and handing it over to the people.

He acknowledged that due to Covid-19 pandemic, some projects were getting a little delayed. He however pointed out that works were in progress and would be completed very shortly while urging the people to extend support and co-operation.

In his address, NPF legislator Dr Chumben Murry remarked that development projects were implemented with fund that was generated from revenue. Hence, he called on power department to ensure revenue collection through proper billing.

Congratulating the power department for completing the project, he also thanked the power adviser on behalf of Lotha community for fulfilling the requirements of the people of Wokha district and the State.

The 11 other projects are 33/11 KV 5 MVA at Niropen Colony, Wokha, 33/11 KV sub-station capacity augmentation from 1.6 MVA to 5 MVA at Chukitong, 33/11 sub-station capacity augmentation from 2.5 MVA to 5 MVA at Tseminyu, 33/11 sub-station capacity augmentation from 1.6 MVA to 5 MVA at Pughoboto, 33 KV extension at Terogunyu, 33 KV line from Terogunyu to Pughoboto, 33/11 KV sub-station capacity augmentation from 1.6 MVA to 5 MVA at Botsa, 33/11 KV, 2X5 MVA Lalmati (Zubza) sub-division, 33/11 sub-station capacity augmentation from 1.6 MVA to 5 MVA at Chakabama, 33/11 sub-station capacity augmentation from 10 MVA to 20 MVA at ITI Kohima and 33/11 sub-station capacity augmentation from 10 MVA to 20 MVA at Industrial Estate, Dimapur.

Short speeches were also delivered by NERPSIP senior general manager LA Sharma and Lotha Hoho chairman Mhondamo Ovung, who lamented the blanket ban on recruitment in State government vacancies and called for lifting the ban to enable power department, which was facing shortage of manpower, to recruit and execute the work

Moa Aier, chief engineer (D&R), said power sector aided development across all sectors and requested the people to give land when sought. He stressed that it was the duty of every individual to know his or her right as well as responsibility like proper billing to achieve balance in the system while avoiding power theft.

In his speech, engineer-in-chief (power) Nribemo Mozhui called for judicious use of power and referred to revenue loss by the power department due to reckless activities and theft.

The function was chaired by superintending engineer (generation) Kasho Chishi, while welcome address was delivered by chief engineer (T&G) Penrithung Yanthan.

Presenting the technical report, additional chief engineer (D&R) Tiameren Walling said the total project/package cost of the entire work was Rs 141.7 crore.
