“The proposed inland waterway linking Myanmar’s Chindwin River to Nagaland’s Tizu River is a key development project.” According to the Governor, “this initiative is expected to serve as a strategic trade link with Southeast Asia, positioning Meluri as an international trade hub.” He further noted that the International Trade Centre at Avangkhu would enhance the region’s role as Nagaland’s gateway to ASEAN nations.

The Governor also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving road and transport infrastructure, particularly the connectivity between Meluri, the state capital, and Avangkhu, which borders Myanmar. He stated that these advancements would foster economic growth and improve access to essential services.

However, Ganesan cautioned that infrastructure alone was not enough to drive progress, stressing the importance of community participation. “It is the people, their unity, and their collective spirit that turn vision into reality,” he said, urging government departments, organizations, and citizens to actively contribute to development efforts.

He also called for improvements in education and healthcare, advocating for well-equipped hospitals and schools to nurture future leaders. Additionally, he appealed for peace and cooperation in the newly established district, encouraging residents to work together for sustained progress. “The government heard your call for a separate district and answered it. Now, I appeal to you to heed the government’s call for peace, cooperation, and unwavering dedication to development,” he stated.

Ganesan linked Meluri’s growth to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, urging the community to align their efforts with national development goals. “The whole state and even the country are watching Meluri today,” he said. “Let us show them that our endeavour for peace and equitable development is not just a wish but a reality. Together, let us march towards a more developed Nagaland and India.”

The event included departmental presentations from Medical, Public Health Engineering (PHED), Education, Agriculture, and the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL). A security coordination meeting was also held at the 39 Assam Rifles COB in Meluri.
