Kohima, December 12 (MExN): A three-day workshop on Inclusive Assessments, part of the Department of School Education’s NECTAR Project, commenced today with a focus on enhancing inclusive assessment practices in Nagaland. Organized in collaboration with Educational Initiatives (Ei), the external agency spearheading the Exam Reforms component under NECTAR, the workshop aims to build the capacity of key stakeholders across the education sector.
The workshop, running from December 11 to 13, brings together educators, officials, and resource persons to address the needs of students with diverse abilities.
On the first day, teachers are being trained in creating inclusive and accessible question items for school and board examinations. The session emphasizes equipping educators to design assessments that enable all students to effectively demonstrate their learning.
Day two will see Inclusive Education Coordinators and Resource Persons from Samagra Shiksha delve into strategies for supporting children with special needs. The training will also cover the accommodations provided by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) for board exams, ensuring these students receive the necessary support at both school and state levels.
The final day will focus on systemic changes, with officials from NBSE, the Department of School Education, SCERT, Samagra Shiksha, ANPSA, and CEDOK exploring ways to make assessments more inclusive at a structural level. The discussions will highlight steps toward creating an educational framework that fosters accessibility for children with special needs.
The NECTAR Project, through initiatives like this workshop, underscores Nagaland’s commitment to building an inclusive education system, ensuring no child is left behind.
