DIMAPUR , August 5: “Sumi Patriots Day” was observed at Sumi Patriots Monolith, Alahuto Colony & Old Town Colony Junction Zunheboto on August 4, organised by Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK).
In a press release, SKK informed that representatives from all Sumi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho Apex, Sumi Totimi Hoho Zunheboto, Zunheboto Area Public organisation, Zunheboto Range Students’ union, Eastern Sumi Students’ Union and Zunheboto Town GBs’ Association.
Speaking at the event, former president Sumi Hoho, Dr. Huskha Yepthomi said that the Sumi Patriots Day was started in the year 1997, the death anniversary of ‘general’ Kaito Sema however it was also observed in honour of all the 448 Sumi patriots who were killed by Indian army.
He said that Sumi should mark August 4 as Sumi Patriots Day and December 28 as Sumi Martyrs Day in a very favourable manner.
Further, speaking on ‘general’ Kaito, Dr. Huskha said that he was among the gifted persons who was born with charisma and that his dying last words was “tell my father not to be ashamed of me”.
Earlier, SKK general secretary Bokalu Jimo chaired the programme, ZTSBC youth leader Aketo Yepthomi said the invocation, SKK president Hutoshe Kits gave introductory remarks, flower wreaths was laid by organisations and benediction was said by SBCZ associate pastor Ghunato Assumi.
It may be mentioned that the “Sumi Patriots Day” is observed annually on August 4, which is the death anniversary of ‘lt. general’ Kaito Sema to commemorate the Sumi patriots who was slained by the Indian army for the cause of Nagas.
