State-level PM SHRI schools debate competition concludes

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 14 (MExN): The State Level PM SHRI Schools Debate Competition 2024, organized by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland under the PM SHRI (Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India) Scheme, was successfully conducted under the theme “Viksit Bharat and its Contours.” The event saw participation from students of PM SHRI government high schools and higher secondary schools across eight districts of Nagaland.

The formal event was chaired by K. Yanon Konyak, Senior Lecturer, SCERT Nagaland, who welcomed the participants and acknowledged the efforts of teacher escorts in supporting the students. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha and State Nodal Officer for PM SHRI Nagaland, emphasized the role of the scheme in showcasing the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He described how PM SHRI schools aim to emerge as exemplary institutions that foster holistic development and equip students with 21st-century skills. Dr. Rio further urged students and teachers to work towards making PM SHRI schools in Nagaland models of excellence.

Dr. Bijano Murry, Joint Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, moderated the competition, while Shri Moalong Imty, Joint Director of SCERT, and Visetonuo Angami, Assistant Director of the Department of School Education (DoSE), served as jury members.

Participants debated on the topic with compelling arguments both for and against the motion. Chichanbeni A. Odyuo from PM SHRI GHS Wokha Village in Wokha District secured first place, while Pairamlungle from PM SHRI GHSS Jalukie Town in Peren District was adjudged second.

The event concluded with a group photograph featuring participants, jury members, officials, and teacher guides, celebrating the success of the competition and the achievements of the young debaters.
