PWD (Housing & Mech) minister Tongpang Ozukum called on Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin at his office chamber at St George Fort, Chennai Monday over allotment of a plot of land at Vellore for construction of Naga Patient House.
Understanding the problems and hardships faced by the patients travelling to Vellore for medical treatment due to lack of proper accommodation at both Vellore and Chennai, chief minister Neiphiu Rio had written a letter to his counterpart on February 1, 2022 seeking allotment of land. As a follow-up up to the letter, Ozukum met Stalin and Tamil Nadu’s PWD (Housing) secretary, member secretary of Chennai Municipal Development Authority and officials of Tamil Nadu Housing Board.
According to Tongpang’s press secretary, Imliyanger Aier, the team also visited a plot at Velachery, which is near the airport, for Nagaland House in Chennai. Staling assured the delegation to look into the matter and also directed his officials to take the delegation members to Vellore and other places if they wished to visit.
During the interaction with Stalin, Ozukum thanked Tamil Nadu government for helping the Naga community during Covid-19 pandemic by arranging transportation for more than 2,000 stranded Nagas who were brought to the train station from different place spread across the southern State for returning to Nagaland.
The delegation also presented gift packets of homegrown Naga Coffee, Naga Honey and a souvenir of State logo (mithun).
The minister was accompanied by special secretary (home) Saravanan, deputy commissioner Mon Thavaseelan K, PWD (Estate Division) executive engineer Ketousielie Kenguruse and personal assistant to minister Repa Ozukum.
