Sökrönye greetings

The Chakhesang Cultural Organization (CCO) has extended Sökrönye greetings to all the Chakhesangs and the Naga society on the occasion of Sökrönye, the most significant premier festival for the Chakhesangs and Tonimai/Tinemi (Tünyemi) Community, being celebrated on 15th January by Chakhesangs.

Originally and initially, the Chokris had traditionally practiced Sökrö, a ritualistic purification of young innocent boys and girls with the killing and eating of unblemished cock and hen respectively, stated CCO Advisory Board Convenor Zacilhü Ringa Vadeo.
This act of sanctification/purification is quite similar to Baptism, Vadeo stated.

“On this joyous occasion of Sökrönye, the festival of purification, prosperity, good fortunes and merry-making, I profoundly appeal to all citizens of Chakhesang and Nagaland to purify our hearts, seek for prosperity, good fortunes and happiness in every home so as to give Peace a Chance in the blessed name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace,” Vadeo added.
