DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) convened a joint meeting with village leaders on April 17 at Old Monger Village to deliberate on the ongoing road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase III (PMGSY-III). The meeting was attended by the Head GBs and chairpersons of Old Monger Village, New Monger Village, Yangzitong Village, and Seyochung Village.

The road project, which connects Seyochung Town via New Monger, Old Monger, and Seyochung Village, has been a long-cherished aspiration for the region and is regarded as essential infrastructure. The route serves as the main transportation link for the area and is considered vital for mobility and access to the Seyochung sub-divisional headquarters.

According to the union, despite years of challenges and delays, the project is finally progressing. In a show of solidarity and to ensure the timely and quality completion of the road, all the participating villages and SASU unanimously adopted four resolutions.

The first resolution declared that no individual shall claim land compensation for any portion of land falling under the PMGSY-III road alignment. The second resolution appealed to all Naga Political Groups not to impose any form of tax on the ongoing road construction. The third stated that no village will issue a project completion certificate until SASU conducts a spot verification and gives formal clearance. The fourth resolution called upon the contractors involved in the project to complete the work within the stipulated time frame.

In the event of non-compliance with any of these resolutions, SASU and the concerned villages resolved to take necessary action to enforce accountability and protect public interest.

SASU President Muwali T. Sangtam and General Secretary Vitsala S. Sangtam said the resolutions reflect a shared commitment to ensure that the road project is not derailed by individual interests or external interference. They said the road is a common asset and a critical link for the development of Seyochung area, and that the community is determined to see it completed responsibly.
