Serving defective bill one reason for revenue loss: Jt. Secy, power

DIMAPUR , October 14: Joint secretary, power, Sara S. Jamir who is also the team leader of special team to check power theft, improve revenue collection and effective management of power system in Dimapur district conducted a surprise check of EE electrical office, Chumukedima on October 13.

According to a DPRO Dimapur report, Sara during her interaction with meter readers pointed out serving of defective bill to consumers as one of the reasons for loss of revenue in power sector.

She said that it was the duty of meter readers to visit consumers, read energy consumed recorded in the meter box every month and serve accurate bills.

Stating that the state government was serious about loss of revenue in energy sector due to faulty bill for which meter readers are directly responsible, Sara warned them that strict action would be initiated against non-performing staff.

Later she interacted with EE (power), Chumukedima and officers for improvement of power supply, timely repair of faulty lines and drive to check the menace of power theft and disconnection drive for non-payment of bills.

The joint secretary also checked the attendance of meter readers under EE Electrical Chumukedima.
