Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): Security Forces seized a major consignment of contraband Vietnamese poppy/opium seeds near Piphema on the National Highway 29 and arrested four persons in this connection.
According to a statement from HQ IGAR (N), based on specific inputs about the movement of contraband from Manipur to Dimapur, security forces launched an operation on September 4 morning during which two trucks carrying 120 bags of Vietnamese poppy/opium seeds were intercepted. The total cost of recovered contrabands is estimated to be Rs 1.44 crore, the release stated.
Four individuals were arrested during the operation and handed over to Custom Preventive Division Officials along with the seized contraband.
