DIMAPUR, NOV 6 (NPN) : Continuing its fight against corruption, Rising People’s Party (RPP) has once again highlighted anomalies in the Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA).
In a statement, RPP pointed out that the Central government had released Rs 43.83 crore approximately for 2019-20 for development of Eastern Nagaland and other areas of the State under the Underdeveloped Area Programme (UDAP) and Border Area Development Programme (BADP). However, while perusing through the 121 work orders, RPP said the amount sanctioned was calculated at Rs 43.83 crore approximately, whereas the RTI reply furnished by DUDA mentioned the released amount as only Rs 32. 69 crore.

According to RPP, the pattern was the same wherein only the same firms keep on getting the work orders year after year, thereby indicating that there was a syndicate in the State government.
Mentioning that it had already published the work orders and list of firms that were awarded contracts for 2011-12 in newspapers and social media, the party said, due to paucity of time, it would publish the work orders awarded between 2012-2013 and 2018-2019 in Facebook and other social media platforms only.
RPP appealed to the voting public in eastern Nagaland to remain vigilant and give “people’s report” regarding implementation of these projects. And if there were any anomalies, it urged them to write to risingpeoplesparty@gmail.com. And once “people’s report” was received, the party said it would further course of action accordingly.
RPP accused the State government of turning the DUDA into a “pocket money” department and creating highest number of crore patis “out of thin air in the shortest possible time”.
