Rising cases of Nagas being duped by job scammers: GENSU

DIMAPUR, APRIL 27 (MExN): Guwahati Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (GENSU) has sounded caution over what it alleged as rising cases of frauds and scammers from Guwahati luring people for bogus jobs in companies and agencies in the city. 

 

 

 

A press communiqué issued by the GENSU President, Wangyat Wangsu and General Secretary, Shan Lonhshe on Wednesday alleged that a number of fraud companies and agencies operating in Guwahati have been luring Nagas, especially youngsters by promises alluring jobs and duping them of their money.  

It highlighted the just recent case of a 20 year old Naga lad who was rescued by the student body with assistance from Naga Students’ Union Guwahati on April 25 night at around 10:30 pm. The lad hailing from Mon was allegedly lured by a fraud company based in Guwahati for a job and kept in confinement for days, feeding him only once a day before he was rescued, it stated. 

The student body has also alleged that some Nagas were also actively involved in the fraudulent dealings by associating with the scammers to lure and deceive fellow citizens in order to rip-off money from them. 

While condemning such acts, the student body has cautioned that it will initiate legal actions against those individual involved in such kind of illegal activities. It claimed that it has rescued many individuals who were victims of such scammers. 

In this connection, the student body has advised fellow Naga people to be alert and not to succumb to such trap and manipulation and to authenticate properly whether the company/agency in concern was genuine or not.
