Bringing smiles to the citizens of Chiephobozou sub division under Kohima district, Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today inaugurated the Sub Divisional Horticulture Officer’s (SDHO) office and Fire Station at Chiephobozou and a new building of Government High School, Nerhema Model.
Addressing the gathering at Northern Angami Mechüki, Chiephobozou, Rio called upon the public to cooperate with the school authority and for holistic growth of education in the state.
On new building of GHS Nerhema Model, he called upon the parents, teachers and students to have better coordination to improve academic performance and asked the parents to take investment in child education as a priority for a bright future.
The CM called upon the teachers to be serious and exercise their responsibility with utmost sincerity and dedication. He also challenged them to ceaselessly play an effective role in building a productive society.
He stressed on the need to have a friendly atmosphere between the teachers and the students, adding that cordial relationship would facilitate a positive learning process.
Touching on the inauguration of the SDHO office, Rio urged upon the public to take advantage of the basic facilities and go for large scale horticultural activities.
He told the farmers to take advantage of fertile land that the state of Nagaland possesses and at the same time, asked them to give special focus on the state policy of organic farming. The CM also told the farming community to adopt modern technology for sustainable farming system.
With regard to the Fire Station, Rio called upon the public to be mindful on fire prevention and safety measures.
‘Avail CM’s Health Insurance Scheme, CM’s Micro Finance Initiative’
Rio called upon the people of Nagaland to avail Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme, which has been designed for cashless treatment for various ailments to all citizens of the state.
For enrolment and to access this health insurance card, he told the public to keep in touch with the medical and administrative officers in their respective areas and also told the village councils and GBs to carry out the enrolment exercise at the earliest, adding that the medical officers, DC, ADC would assist them.
Further, Rio told the people to avail Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative which was launched to encourage credit for carrying out economic activities in the state.
Rio informed that the state government had already deposited Rs 65 crore for this scheme.
Subsidy and interest subvention against identified activities in the agriculture & allied sector including processing units, MSME, etc., will be provided to eligible beneficiaries.
The objective of the scheme is to increase farmer’s income, encourage self-employment and entrepreneurship development, inculcate a sense of credit disciple, boost private enterprise and improve the agri-marketing network and infrastructure in the state.
Proper utilization of fund
Nagaland’s School Education & SCERT Advisor KT Sukhalu said that the school education department has been undertaking various measures to reform education system in the state.
Through World Bank Project, the department has been extending Incentive Grants to the schools across the state, he said while calling for proper utilisation of the fund to run and manage the schools properly.
Nagaland’s Horticulture & Border Affairs Advisor Mhathung Yanthan called upon the farmers to adopt scientific methods of farming to get better yield.
Stating that the government is focusing towards the welfare of farmers, he called upon the farmers to access various schemes and gain maximum benefit.
Nagaland’s Fire & Emergency Services, SIRD and Relief & Relief Rehabilitation Advisor Pohwang Konyak also spoke at the function.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Chiephobozou Additional Deputy Commissioner Alemyapang Longchar while Rev Fr John S Kavas, priest & principal, St Dominic Savio Parish, Chiephobozou invoked God’s blessing.
Welcome address was delivered by Chiephobozou Town Council chairman Neichütuo Rio. Thejaneinuo Kiewhuo presented a special number while vote of thanks was proposed by Northern Angami Public Organisation president Zeneituo Yano.
New building of GHS Nerhema Model
The new building of GHS Nerhema Model was constructed at the total cost of Rs 3 crore (Rs 10 lakh-State Plan) and Rs 290 lakh from HUDCO).
The building has three floors featuring 8 class rooms along with one assembly hall and one miscellaneous/additional room. It has been designed for 200-300 students’ capacity.
SDHO office Chiephobozou
This is the 9th SDHO office in Nagaland. Horticulture activities under the Chiephobozou will now be looked after by a separate Controlling Officer with an independent establishment starting from today, for ensuring efficient implementation of various schemes under the department, according to a state horticulture official.
The objective of setting up SDHO is to facilitate nutritional security, maximize per hectare production, climate resilient through horticulture, towards sustainable hill farming, and facilitate skills and extension services at the door steps.
Horticultural crops undertaken in the sub-division which have immense potentials and potentialities include hill banana, Mandarin orange, naga mircha, avocado, round lemon, papaya, coffee, shitake mushroom, various vegetables, khuva (local chives).
Chiephobozou Fire Station
This Fire Station is the 20th fire station so far out of the requirement of 48 fire stations in Nagaland.
Neilasa Sopfü, Inspector General (IG) Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services, Nagaland said that this fire station will cover 19 villages within the Sub Division.
Apart from fire fighting, he said that the department is focusing on fire prevention and safety measures and has started inspecting high rise buildings and recommending proper fire safety measures to the owners of the buildings, including educational institutions and other buildings which are above 15 metres.
