Random testing, vax drives, sensitisation continue

DIMAPUR, July 20: Kohima District Task Force (DTF) on COVID-19 organised a sensitisation programme on COVID testing and vaccination for villages of Kohima Village, Chedema, Chedema Model, Tsabazou, Kijümetouma, Kijümetou Basa, Rüsoma and Dihoma at Kohima village council hall on July 19.

According to a DIPR report, while addressing the gathering, Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire asked the people to contemplate on how diligently one has been following the covid appropriate behaviors and requested the gathering to come out from the fear of stigmatisation and to disclose self-test reports for early treatment and safety of people.

Advisor for technical education & election, Medo Yhokha requested the village leaders, apex organisation and others to extend cooperation and support in implementing covid protocols in respective areas.

Meanwhile, DC & chairman DTF Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie reiterated on the role of every responsible individual to act on their part and emphasised on the provision of law laid down under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897 and relevant IPC Section 188.

CMO Kohima, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo said that although the vaccination was ongoing, active participation was required from all corners. She therefore urged the gathering to spread the awareness and to encourage the unvaccinated group to avail the opportunity.

NAPO president, Zeneituo Yano appreciated Kohima DTF for organising the awareness programme and hoped that through the programme, the doubts and confusion would be dispelled and every responsible citizen would come forward and avail the facility provided by the government.

During the programme, NAPO, NASU, NAYO, NAWO, AYO and three representatives from village council, village task force and women representatives from villages attended the programme.

Vaccination drive at Zunheboto: DC Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo, Dr. K. Akaho Sema, deputy CMO Dr. Aron, DTO cum DPO (RCH & UIP) and district store manager Hekato Chishi, monitored all the eleven COVID-19 vaccination session site on July 18 at Zunheboto town. 33775 eligible beneficiaries vaccinated with first dose and 6284 eligible beneficiaries vaccinated with second dose in Zunheboto district.

Random testing conducted in Wokha: Wokha DTF in collaboration with the medical department conducted Random Antigen Test (RAT) at six locations within Wokha town area.

The random testing was conducted for business establishments, vegetables vendors and shop keepers.

Altogether 450 samples were collected for testing and one was tested positive.

Testing were done at NST colony, Chukitong Taxi stand, Co-operative Bank, PWD junction, daily bazaar and police point area.

Wokha district chambers of commerce & industries (WDCCI) led by its president, Renpithung Kikon also assisted the testing team in mobilising and encouraging the business community to come forward for the testing.

The RAT would continue till July 23 at urban areas after which the same would be conducted in phase manner covering the entire district.

The RAT would also be conducted at Vankhosung Mission Centre and APMC, Wokha Village on July 22 and Longsa village on July 23.

Further, the DTF requested all colonies council chairman and village councils to assist the medical department/ testing team during the testing exercise.

The public have also been urged to comply with the existing SOPs with regard to COVID-19 during the exercise. The testing would begin from 8 a.m. onwards.

Peren DTF on COVID-19 & vaccination committee holds meeting: Peren DTF on COVID-19 and vaccination committee meeting was held on July 19 at DC’s conference hall, Peren under the chairmanship of DC Peren, Sentiwapang Aier who is also the DTF chairman.

Deputy CMO Peren, Dr. Lanuakum highlighted on the positivity rate of COVID & testing report in the district where he informed that so far, positive cases in the district is 741, currently active cases is 18 and positivity rate of the district is 8.1%.

Highlighting on the vaccination status, Dr. Kiholi of the district informed that as on July 18 report, a total of 19,843 doses (inclusive of both doses) have been administered in the district and overall coverage stands at 26%.

In the meeting, the DTF & vaccination committee members deliberated on the review of Unlock-III guidelines, ramping up of testing or vaccination exercise in the district and improper functioning of ambulance services in the district.

Representative from Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN) expressed their concerns regarding the posting of doctors at PHC Ahthibung where the DTF chairman assured to take up the matter urgently.

Earlier, the medical department requested the DTF to issue separate order informing the SDTF and village councils to provide cooperation with the Medical Department during testing, contact tracing and vaccination drives in order to fulfill the required target.
