Rainfall activity likely to continue in Nagaland till April 23: NSDMA

Kohima, April 18 (MExN): Nagaland is likely to experience current rainfall activity till April 23 with fairly widespread light to heavy rain in many locations.

Besides, rainfall, along with other pre-monsoon activities such as lightning, thunderstorms, and squally winds, is expected to persist until the April 21, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) informed in a weather update.

It further forecasted partly cloudy moderate rainfall from Apirl 19-23 in the districts of Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Jalukie, Noklak, Kohima, Mon, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu and Zunhboto.

However, heavy rainfall is expected to occur in districts such as Longleng, Mokokchung, Tuensang and Wokha during the same period, it added.

However, the NSDMA’s update also mentions a period of heat in certain locations during the given timeframe, with the state’s minimum and maximum temperatures ranging between 15°C and 41°C, respectively.

In view of weather forecast, the NSDMA, under the Home Department, advised the public to remain cautious and prioritise safety by adhering to the previously issued safety guidelines.

Further, it appealed all District Disaster Management Authorities and relevant departments to remain vigilant and prepared to address any emergencies, with the aim of safeguarding lives and properties.
