Rainfall activity is likely to continue over Nagaland and other North-East States during the next two days till March 21, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted in an update Sunday evening at 8:00 pm.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over south Assam & Meghalaya; Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura,” on March 20, the nodal national weather agency informed in its 5-day “All India Weather Forecast Bulletin” from Mach 19-23.
In addition, it informed that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe.
Meanwhile on March 21, the IMD informed that “heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.”
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) “very likely” over Jharkhand; with lightning over Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Gujarat state, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, it added.
According to the IMD, the rainfall activity in Nagaland and other NE States is likely to be reduced from March 22.
On Sunday, the IMD said that rainfall or thundershowers were observed at most places over NE including Nagaland from 8:30AM to 5:30 PM.
Thunderstorms were also at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Saurashtra & Kutch, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, it added.
Maximum temperatures were also markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at most places in all NE States including Nagaland on Sunday, it added.
