Peren, July 13 (MExN): The Tening Town Youth Organisation (TTYO) has expressed regret on the “inactiveness of PWD (R&B) Department for not being able to do some basic maintenance works of drainage and bush clearance on the main road connecting Tening Hq to Peren and Dimapur.”
TTYO President, Bakam Pamai in a press statement said that “it is also ascertained that Officers and staffs of the department are hardly in station for carrying out such routine works, especially during this rainy season.”
Therefore, the organisation has appealed to “the department concerned to ensure the presence of its officers and staffs in Tening henceforth without fail.”
Meanwhile, TTYO initiated road repair from Zero Point to Tening. “The deplorable road condition from Zero point to Tening junction on the way from Peren to Tening has compelled Tening Town Youth Organisation (TTYO) to undertake the repairing works on July 11,” the TTYO stated in the release.
It informed that the work was executed in coordination with the Administration Department, frontal organisations, churches, government departments, men and women folk and TTYO volunteers.
Altogether 189 people participated in the work with financial and material contributions by officers, donors and well-wishers. Advisor Namri Nchang, MLA, 6th Tening A/C provided two excavators while several people made contributions towards the repairing of the 4 km stretch, it stated.
