Private investors invited to take over Wazeho cement plant

The process of privatization of the 150TPD Mini Cement Plant Wazeho in Phek district is still kept open. The private investors from within and outside the state have been invited to take over the same.

This was stated in the Annual Administrative Report 2022-23 of Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Limited (A Government of Nagaland undertakings), tabled in the recently concluded first session of 14th Nagaland legislative Assembly in Kohima.

The Report stated that Government of Nagaland decided to modernize and upgrade the 50 TPD Mini Cement Plant to 150 TPD by addition of 100 TPD plant &machinery which was completed and inaugurated in June 27, 2008.

And as per the policy of State Government to privatize the Mini Cement Plant, NSMDC has advertised in different national and local papers and different private companies had come forward to take over the plant on lease. “But this has not materialized so far and as such, NSMDC has proposed for operation of the plant by the Corporation,” the report stated.

In order to enhance the production capacity or the DDSP’s and thereby reducing the cost of production so as to generate better revenue, the Corporation has taken up upgradation of the DDSP Units by installing higher production capacity machines such as Gang saw machines, Wire Saw Block Dresser Machines, Gantry Cranes and Edge Cutting Machine in the Plant along with proportionate Quarry equipments like hydraulic excavator.

The Corporation has completed the installation or the machineries and the newly installed machineries are in operation.
The Production capacity of the plant is expected at 300 sq. ft/day, the report stated.
