President Murmu on 3-day visit to Meghalaya and Assam from today

New Delhi, January 15 (MExN): The President of India, Droupadi Murmu will visit Meghalaya and Assam from January 15 to 17, informed an official statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.

The itinerary for the visit includes a two-day stay in Meghalaya and one day in Assam, where she will attend the Karbi Youth Festival in Diphu.

According to the statement, President Murmu will inaugurate the Meghalaya Games at the PA Sangma Stadium, Tura, on January 15. 

On January 16, she will address members of Self Help Groups at Baljek Airport, Tura, and virtually lay the foundation stone for the new Integrated Administration Complex in Tura.

 

On the same day, she will speak at Mawphlang, virtually inaugurate the upgraded Rongjeng Mangsang Adokgre Road and Mairang Ranigodown Azra Road, and lay the foundation stones for the Shillong Peak Ropeway and tourist accommodations in the villages of Kongthong, Mawlyngot, and Kudengrim.

On Tuesday evening, President Murmu will attend a civic reception hosted in her honour by the Government of Meghalaya at the Raj Bhavan, Shillong, marking her first visit to Meghalaya since assuming the office of the president.

On January 17, she will participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Karbi Youth Festival in Taralangso, Diphu, Assam, the statement added.
