The End Times: A look at the impact of Artificial Intelligence, a book authored by Awoto Awomi was released in Dimapur on April 8. The book was released by Y Kikheto Sema, Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, at a programme held at the Tourist Lodge, in Dimapur.

Awomi (33 years), who is a member of the Sumi Baptist Church, Kohima, and a preacher, author, counsellor and Bible teacher, said that the book was a manifestation of recurring dreams about the biblical “end times” he had, growing up as a young child.

He said, “On October 27, 2013, the Holy Spirit revealed that I will write a book, a book that will be next to the Bible.”

According to him, he did not take it seriously at the time, while setting his priority somewhere else. He tried different things for the next 7 years but could not find success and finally in 2020, he said that through the guidance of his mentor, he set about working on achieving the “commission.”

He said that the book tries to connect the rise of IT and humanity’s growing dependence on artificial intelligence with the biblical “end times.” Drawing a parallel, he claimed that AI as a technology is based on number coding, which can be interpreted as an incarnation of the so called “beast number- 666.” With the further development of “biochips” that would be embedded on humans for accessing all day to day transactions, he claimed that a system evocative of the “end times” would emerge as stated in the book of Revelations.

He went on to claim that in the latter years, the spirit of Lucifer will use someone, who controls the AI technology and that person controlling the world.

Y Kikheto Sema, who is also the chairperson of the Board of Deacons, Sumi Baptist Church, Kohima, while emphasising the world-altering impact of AI, said that it raises important questions for the society, economy and governance.

According to him, AI, with all its positive uses can also be used in ways that are harmful or lead to unintended consequences like “unprecedented surveillance” by states as well as by IT companies as seen in recent years.

While maximizing the benefits of such a technology, he said that being prepared and raising the “question of machine morality” would help limit and eliminate the possible dangers.
