Correspondent MOKOKCHUNG, AUG 5 (NPN): The dismantling/withdrawal of all temporary huts/tents, bunkers and disengagement of police forces along the Assam and Nagaland border at Vihoto area of Vikuto village under Tzurnagkong range in Mokokchung district has been completed on Wednesday.
The dismantling of camps and withdrawal of troops, which was initiated on Monday, was delayed due to heavy rainfall, sources said.
The process was however completed on Wednesday under the supervision of the joint committee that was set up earlier.
Both Assam and Nagaland had set up a joint committee comprising of ADCs of Mangkolemba and Jorhat; Addl SPs of Mokokchung and Jorhat; Border Magistrates of Tzürangkong and Mariani; SDPOs of Mangkolemba and Titabor, to oversee the withdrawal/dismantling of police outposts/camps.
It may be recalled that the chief secretaries of Nagaland and Assam signed an agreement on July 31 to de-escalate the tense situation prevailing in two locations in the Dessoi valley reserved forest /Tsurangkong valley and withdraw police forces from the border area.
