State level marketing exhibition in Dimapur underway

Keeping with the spirit and cognizance of promoting local products and enterprise, a 15-day state level marketing exhibition was launched here at Super Market, Dimapur on March 15.

Speaking as the special guest at the inaugural, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, spoke about the importance of promoting local talents, culture and overall image of the state through such platforms.

Earlier in his address, the DC highlighted the role of Mahatma Gandhi and his concept behind Khadi during the freedom struggle. “Gandhi believed that the development of the country lies in the development and empowerment of the grassroots or villages,” he said.

He mentioned that empowerment and promotion of our local artisans and handicrafts persons were a reflection of our cultural image to the outside world. He therefore encouraged the people to foster and support local products through buying from them.

The DC expressed that such platforms are a means through which local talents can be showcased and boots the overall image of the state. He however reminded that such exhibitions are only one among the many ways through which businesspersons and entrepreneurs can promote their products to the consumers. Making use of online platforms to avail opportunities towards greater markets should also be utilized, the DC said.

The state level marketing exhibition is being organised by the State Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Dimapur to encourage the beneficiaries or entrepreneurs who have availed loans from various schemes of KVIC by providing them platforms to promote and sell their products.

A total of 42 stalls will be opened during the exhibition showcasing various handicrafts and products such as local shawls, food items, machinery tools and utensils.

This is also in commemoration of the 75th year of Indian Independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
NTTC sets up Rural Technology & Incubation Centre

Among the list of products being showcased at the exhibition is a stall set up by the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC), Dimapur. Under the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kohima, the semi-governmental society seeks to impart quality training in wielding, automotive, electrical, carpentry, computer courses and training programmes to unemployed youths of the state.

Additionally, NTTC also has its sights on up-scaling small scale industries through the integration of manufacturing & tooling technology at the rural level. This is done through their chief project called the Rural Technology & Incubation Centre which develops and manufactures machineries for farmers and entrepreneurs. It includes equipments such as smoke free meat dryer, banana fiber extractor both electrical and petrol version, vegetable dryer (solar), pineapple fiber extractor (type 1 & 2), motorised paddy thrasher, portable rice mill, and hand tools for hill farming such as seedling gun, pole puller & fruit plucking stick, to name a few.

These items can be observed at the exhibition.
