Instituted in the year 2013 when the literary prospect, both of writers and readership, was struggling to find a foothold in the state, PenThrill Publishing House has indeed come a long way celebrating its 10th anniversary today.

As the founder of PenThrill, Vishü Rita Krocha recalled “ten years ago, I took the biggest risk of my life to embark on a journey of unfamiliarity…. publishing was almost unheard of, and there were also very few authors from Nagaland that one could name.”

To mark the decade long journey of nurturing creative writing, a programme was held at Kohima College courtyard this afternoon with Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, Advisor to the Department of School Education & SCERT, who is also a writer and an academic.

Congratulating the founder on this remarkable achievement, Yhome said PenThrill has filled a gap which was much required in the state by enabling the thoughts and ideas of writers into books.

Nagas with the tradition of oral storytelling, the Advisor also encouraged on publishing of folklores and folktales to enrich the aesthetic life of Naga society and also preserve cultural heritage for future generations.

Sharing her 10 years of publishing in Nagaland, Krocha who quit her fulltime job in journalism said “I had poured everything that I had – my heart, time, energy and resources into building something that I, myself knew very little about.”

However, her conviction and belief that storytelling has always been at the heart of the Naga culture, she said, was enough to drive her towards an uncharted territory. Today, 81 published books to its credit stands a testament to her belief, perseverance and commitment to make a positive impact in the literary world.

Though faced with its shares of challenges, mistakes and failures, the founder couldn’t be happier as she said “it gave me a real sense of fulfilment of being able to preserve the memory (writers and authors) of their works.”

Attributing her success to God with gratitude, Krocha also acknowledged her family and friends who have walked, supported and helped her coming thus far to where it is today.

She also thanked all booklovers, book buyers, writers, authors, bookstores, friends, well-wishers and asserted that PenThrill will deliver more and better works in the decade ahead.

Earlier, Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu, indigenous feminist, poet, academic and educator shared her experience with PenThrill while Teisovi Gerard Meyase, Assistant Professor, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma brought the greetings.
