DIMAPUR , August 15: Minister transport, civil aviation and land resources, P. Paiwang Konyak inaugurated civil Helipad at Wokha on August 14.
In his address, Paiwang highlighted that till 2018, flying hours of Nagaland chopper service was only 400 hours. After his meeting with the then home minister Rajnath Singh at New Delhi, the flying hours were extended to 1200 hours and currently two helicopters of twin engine were under operation in Nagaland.
He also highlighted that the centre had allotted 90 crore project for fixed-wing aircraft with priority at every district headquarter. Paiwang also urged the public to utilise the opportunity and to contribute more land for overall development.
Dr. Chumben Murry, MLA pointed out that despite hardships and land acquisition, the civil helipad at Wokha was now a reality and acknowledged the minister for giving special attention towards the welfare of Wokha citizens.
Meanwhile, secretary transport department, A. Robin Lotha acknowledged the department and minister.
He also gave a brief highlight on the project details and said that Nagaland had now 12 helipads with nine operational and three under construction.
DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha urged the public for cooperation and maintenance of the helipad.
Earlier, Lotha Hoho chairman, Mhondamo Ovung expressed gratitude to the minister and department.
He also submitted two-point memorandum to the minister. During the programme, assistant general manager, NST highlighted that chopper service at Wokha would be available on Fridays every week at subsidise rate of 24960. One could contact 9436078694 for advance bookings and information.
