Forty-six HSLC toppers and twenty-two HSSLC toppers including two HSSLC (Manipur) were felicitated by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) at a programme held at Capital Convention Hall, Kohima on June 28.
Gracing the programme as the special guest, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome underlined the importance of education in empowering individuals and driving societal progress.
Congratulating the toppers, Yhome acknowledged that success doesn’t come easily, and stressed on the importance of persistence stating ‘you are all in diverse positions and have your own aspirations’ and encouraged them to continue to strive for excellence wherever they are placed.
Asserting that only education can set ‘us’ free, he said ‘the roads are open for you, and the challenged upon you are huge. It’s a new path to define who you are.’
‘Be intentional’
Sharing her success story, Tolino Chishi, who cleared the UPSC 2024 advised the students to be intentional about their plans and actions, and to always give in their best and believe in oneself.
Knowledge, she stated is always so precious, even when it’s not the means to a particular end, and expressed hope that the students will find joy in curiosity and learning. Chishi also advised the students to use technology wisely and responsibly and extract the best benefits it has to offer.
“In days to come, we will all strive not just to excel as individuals, but we will also find ways to make our communities better and to enrich the world that we live in” stated Chishi.
‘God first’
In his presidential address, Medovi Rhi congratulating the students said their hard work, perseverance and dedication have paid off, and all have reached a significant milestone in their academic journey.
As they charter their journey, he reminded the students to put God first in everything they do, which would help them navigate the complexities of life. “This spiritual foundation will not only help to achieve your goals but will also ensure that your success is meaningful and aligned with a higher purpose.”
While the road ahead will not always be smooth with setbacks, Rhi said, only perseverance will help the rise above all, and the ability to adapt and innovate in navigating the complexities of the future.
“As you embark on this new chapter, set your goals high and pursue them with unwavering determination. Do not be afraid to take risks and step out of your comfort zone” he stated.
Gently reminding the students that success is not a destination, but a journey that requires continuous effort and a willingness to embrace change, the students were advised to embrace the challenges as opportunities to learn, to grow, become stronger, and shape them into a more capable and resilient individual.
“As students, you are the architects of our future—each one of you holds within your hands the key to shaping a brighter tomorrow for our Naga Society. Each of you carries the potential to make a significant impact, not only through your studies but also through your actions and choices” stated the NSF President.
Rhi also asserted that they are not merely recipients of knowledge but stewards of change, and that the journey towards unity and glory begins with each one of them.
“You are the torchbearers of this legacy, entrusted with the task of upholding and advancing our cultural richness and identity. Above all, let us never lose sight of our duty to serve and work tirelessly towards a future where the unified Lim and glory of Nagas shine brightly for all to see” he reminded the students.
