Nyamnei Konyak appointed NPP Nagaland president; Ahoto is National GS

DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Nyamnei Konyak has been appointed of the new president of National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland State, while the incumbent   Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema was promoted as the party’s National general secretary.

Dr Ahoto will be in-charge of frontal organisation with a wider spectrum covering the entire country, informed a press release from the NPP Nagaland State.

The changes were made during the NPP’s National Committee Meeting held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi on May 22. 

As per the release, the meeting was chaired by the NPP Chief and Meghalaya CM, Dr Conrad K Sangma, and was attended by members of the party from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

During the meeting, the newly elected MLAs from Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur were also felicitated and different state units presented their reports on poll preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election, it said. 

Meanwhile, at the meeting, the NPP national treasurer, James K Sangma was elevated as the national general secretary (organisation) and in-charge of Arunachal Pradesh while Dr Mehtab Agitok Sangma appointed in his place. 

In view of the election in Mizoram, Meghalaya Cabinet Minister Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh has also been appointed as the state in-charge while Nicky Nongkhlaw was also been elevated as the party’s national youth president.

As per the release, the NPP also adopted a resolution on the Manipur situation and expressed “deep pain” over the ongoing situation in Manipur. 

Accordingly, it resolved to engage with all communities to collectively work together in restoring peace and harmony and prayed for restoration of normalcy at the earliest which in the interest of the State and its people.
