Senapati, January 18 (MExN): “The unity of Naga tribes is not just a matter of choice; it is the very essence of our existence, and in it we discover the power to overcome the challenges that we face in the socio-cultural and political arenas,” Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) President, Medovi Rhi asserted on Wednesday.
The 10-day 33rd MKS sports meet played under the theme “stronger together” hosted by Katomei Youth and Students’ Organisation, stated a press release received here.
Addressing the Maram Students’ Union (MKS) sports meet valedictory function as the special guest at Katomei village under Senapati district, Manipur, Rhi reminded that NSF has always stood as a symbol of unity and strength among Naga students and the diversity enriches ‘our Naga identity and finds our strength.’
The NSF President recalled that ‘our journey has been marked by struggles, sacrifices, and perseverance from the earliest days of our quest for recognition and identity to our current aspirations for political rights, self-determination and have walked a challenging path.’ Encouraging the gathering, Rhi added, “With each step rekindled the flame of Naga unity, socio-cultural bonds, forged over generations, provided us with a firm foundation… our shared traditions, music, dance, and festivals have been a source of resilience in the face of adversity.”
“As we navigate the complex landscape of the Indo-Naga political issue,” Rhi said, “it is imperative for the youth represented by the NSF, to actively contribute towards an early, inclusive, honourable, and acceptable solution. Our collective voice must echo the aspirations of the Naga people, emphasising the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and a commitment to lasting peace.”
He reminded the youth that they are the torchbearers of change and have the opportunity to influence the trajectory of the collective future. He urged them to play a pivotal role in shaping an outcome that not only respects the aspirations of the Naga people but also contributes to the larger narrative of peace and harmony in the region. He also reminded the Naga responsibility to engage in constructive dialogue, promote understanding, and contribute positively to the ongoing peace process.
Appreciating the MKS for conducting 33th edition sports meet and being the vital cornerstone of the federation, president urged the students’ union to serves as a testament to the unity and strength of the Naga community and to use the platform not only to celebrate the sporting achievement but also to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of unity, justice and peace.
He urged the students’ community to carry the spirit of “Stronger Together” in daily lives, among communities, and pursue a just and honourable solution to the Indo-Naga political issue.
