Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Tuesday hit out at former Nagaland Chief Minister and Governor SC Jamir for his recent treatise stating that it “exposed his dogmatic political mentality as he feigned ignorance of the political meaning of the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015 to find ground for defending 16 Point Agreement.”
In a press release issued through its MIP, the NSCN (IM) said the Framework Agreement clearly mentions ‘sharing the sovereign power’ and ‘enduring inclusive new relationship of peaceful co-existence of the two entities.’ This, it claims emphasised that “integration is an integral part of the Framework Agreement.” The NSCN (IM) questioned, “What is sovereignty when there is no integration? What is sovereignty when other Nagas outside Nagaland state are left out?”
The NSCN (IM) also accused Convener of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) N Kitovi Zhimomi of “trying to propel his image as a bona fide Naga revolutionary.” It said that Kitovi, who sided with Khaplang when the NSCN split in 1988, was “bereft of any revolutionary trait as demanded by the call of the Naga political struggle” and was never found fighting for the righteous cause of the Naga political issue. It alleged that by 1992, Kitovi “was finding comfort in taking shelter in the camps of the Indian Army as arranged by his mentor Dr SC Jamir,” and doing the bidding of the Indian Army to track down the cadres of the NSCN (IM) led by Isak Chishi Swu and Th Muivah.
The NSCN (IM) further claimed that Kitovi took over as the security commander of SC Jamir with the “sole purpose of going headlong to eliminate the NSCN after entering into unholy collusion with the Indian Army.” It alleged that Kitovi, as the Convener of the NNPGs is “fighting with the Nagas on behalf of the Government of India to accept Indian constitution and surrender.”
On the NNPGs Agreed Position, the NSCN (IM) said it “is a mere re-edited version of the 16 Point Agreement which was condemned and rejected by the Naga people. Till now, Kitovi wasted no effort to defend the 16 Point Agreement where there is no place for the Nagas living outside the modern state of Nagaland.”
Referring to NNPGs Convenor’s recent interaction with the media in Delhi, the NSCN (IM) stated that Kitovi’s stance that a Naga revolutionary has to be pragmatic and build peace with India, was an act of “simply parroting what his mentor SC Jamir has been talking about throughout that the Nagas has to accept the 16 Point Agreement to build peace with India.”
“What has been rejected by the Naga people years ago cannot be brought back to live to build peace with India,” it said, while adding that “a man without political vision is blind to the political aspiration of the Naga people.”
The Naga people have been fighting through political dialogue to establish a lasting peace with India. But peace is not something which would come by suppressing the political identity of the Nagas, it added.
The NSCN (IM) said its version of being revolutionary is characterized by a strong belief of the God’s given political identity as a Naga nation.
