KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) held a protest demonstration today at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, in response to the inflammatory rhetoric directed against the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, by the ruling NDA government.

The protest, which was held in solidarity with the nationwide agitation called by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), drew a strong gathering of party members and supporters.

According to a press release issued by NPCC communication department, Khriedi Theunuo, Working President of NPCC, addressed the crowd, emphasizing that “Democracy needs a democratic response,” in the face of leaders spreading violence and hatred across the country.

He further asserted that as long as such divisive attitudes persist, the Congress party will not rest or tolerate such actions. Theunuo urged the authorities to take immediate steps to curb these inflammatory actions.

The NPCC leadership, meanwhile, expressed its unwavering support to Rahul Gandhi, vowing to stand behind his leadership and continue backing his efforts to strengthen the nation.

Similarly, the Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) also organized a rally in Dimapur condemning what was termed as “threatening remarks by the ruling NDA leaders targeting Gandhi.”

The DDCC leaders termed the remarks as unacceptable in a democratic society and accused the BJP led NDA government of ignoring the issues raised by the Congress party, while not taking action against erring leaders on the ruling side. They maintained that the BJP and company should show more respect for their political opponents.
