North East, Nagaland area of priority for BJP: Nadda

National president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) JP Nadda today said that North East has been the area of priority for BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We have policy not only to Look East but Act East,” Nadda said while addressing the BJP party Karyakartas at Capital Cultural Hall here.

He said that emphasis was given to infrastructure and development of North East, especially Nagaland.

Modi has visited North East 50 times, which show his keen interest in North East, he said.

He said that National Highway network in Nagaland has been extended to 1547 km today from 880 km in 2014.
In health care, Rs. 100 crores has been spent in Nagaland.

Stating that empowerment of the poor had been done, he said “That is why everybody recognizes the work done by Modi for empowering the deprived class, for empowering women, for empowering the farmers, for empowering the labour, for empowering the youth and all section of the society have been benefitted.”

He expressed happiness that the vote percentage of BJP in Nagaland has gone to 15% from 1.8 percent.

‘We believe in Country first, Party next, Self last’

He said that BJP believe in “Desh Seva” slogan, adding that BJP is a political party where it don’t talk only politics.
“Along with politics, there is different dimension that the party follow and that is “Seva”, he said.

Since 1951, he said “we are the only party which is consistent in ideology and it works with ideology of integral humanism and taking care of deprived class.

He also claimed that BJP is expanding very fast “because we are ideological party.”

We have got national commitment and along with national commitment, we respect the regional sentiments, he said.

Stating that BJP motto is for inclusiveness, he said “We have to work for all section of the people.”

We are a party which represents everybody, he said adding that the party believe in development and see that everybody should grow.

“We believe in Country first, Party next, Self last,” he said, adding that the party believe in “our action and deeds.”

“We are for strong nation and we are for strong country,” he said adding that the party has to make nation stronger and see that every section of the society becomes stronger.

He said that crores of BJP workers will involve themselves in ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ from September 17 (Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 to the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2).

He said that many seva programme relating to health, education and environment will be taken up by BJP from September 17 to October 2 during Sewa Pakhwada.’

He called upon the BJP party Karyakartas to take active part in this.

On seat sharing decision
On request to central leaders by Nagaland’s Deputy Chief minister and BLP leader Y. Patton to have a second thought on seat sharing, Nadda said the party has taken the decision and the commitment of the national party have to follow.”

When you have faith in central leadership, we will take the call but at this point of time, we stand committed for the commitment which we have given and that you have to respect it, he said.

Earlier, Patton challenged the party workers to follow the direction of the central leaders and work together and allow lotus to bloom in Nagaland.

Patton assured that if seat sharing goes atleast 30/30 between the alliance, with the support of karyakartas and central leaders, “I will bring 25 legislators.”

National BJP spokesperson and Prabhari Nagaland, Nalin Kohli described the two day visit of Nadda as positive moment “as we prepare for the election next year and as we get ready to bring greater development and service to the people of Nagaland.”

Referring to Act East policy, he said it is about acting and bringing development in the North East so it become a growth engine of India.

“We believe Nagaland is an important place for growth to take place,” he added.

Earlier, Nagaland’s BJP president Temjen Imna Along delivered welcome address while the programme was chaired by Nagaland BJP vice president P Kavili Achumi.
