New Delhi, August 13 (MExN): The usages of Electric BOV (Battery Operated Vehicles) in most North-East states including Nagaland remain ‘spark-less’ despite the Union Government’s push, highlighted latest data provided in the Parliament on August 10.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Nitin Jairam Gadkari informed that out of 28, 30,565 Electric Vehicles (EVs) registered in India, only 62 were from Nagaland.
In March, the total EVs in the State was 60, which increased just by two during the intervening period.
The statuses of the North-East States were also not so bright, except for Tripura and Assam and to some extend in Manipur.
It was lowest in Sikkim at 20, followed closely from the bottom by Arunachal Pradesh at 28; Mizoram 118, Meghalaya 139.
Assam led the uptake of EVs at 1, 20,423, while Tripura was distant second at 14,839 and it was 1203 for Manipur.
