Mokokchung, May 21 (MExN): Former Governor and Chief Minister, Dr SC Jamir today said that there is no mention of sovereignty and integration in neither the Framework Agreement (FA) nor the Agreed Position. He stated this during the inauguration of the community hall cum offices of the Aongza Ward Council on May 20 in Mokokchung.
The former Governor said that this came to his notice after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi twice and Home Minister Amit Shah once.
Dr SC Jamir meanwhile stated that the Naga people need to practice telling the truth, while also calling for doing away with differences in order to enable peace and growth. This, he stated, is the desire of all Nagas. A bright future for the Naga people is not possible “without its people knowing the reality,” Jamir said.
He meanwhile made reference to a speech made by former NSCN (IM) Vice Chairman, late General (Retd) Khole Konyak at the Naga consultative meeting at Agri Expo, Dimapur on February 29, 2012 where he said that “a redefined goal of the Nagas must be derived through correct understanding of the situation. A rational and practical approach today will safeguard future generation Nagas. Let us be wise.”
He meanwhile expressed concern that at present Nagaland seems to be in chaos with the influence of multiple entities at all junctures. In the face of this, he urged the people to adopt a 21st century mindset.
Earlier, Dr SC Jamir inaugurated Aongza Ki, a two-story building. Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Rural Development; Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly; and Limanungsang, President, All Ward Union Mokokchung Town also spoke.
R Longritemjen Ao, Chairman, Aongza Ward Council gave the chairman’s address while Rev Ponen Longchar, Pastor, MTBA led the dedicatory prayer.
