LONGLENG, MARCH 27 (MExN): The NSS, RRC, and Anti-Tobacco Cell of Yingli College, Longleng, organized a program on the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (Drugs Free India Campaign) on March 25, 2025, in collaboration with the District Administration of Longleng. The event was held at Borgohain Hall and aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse and its societal impact.
Dr T. Temsu Imti, Principal of Yingli College, delivered the welcome address. The resource person, Junior Specialist, District Hospital Longleng (MED), Dr Lipok Phom delivered an insightful session, highlighting the adverse effects of substance abuse on physical and mental health. He emphasized the importance of early intervention, rehabilitation, and the collective role of society in combating drug addiction.
A short speech was delivered by EAC Longleng, Imkongnukla Ao, who stressed on the need for community involvement and proactive measures in addressing drug-related issues. She encouraged students to be ambassadors of change and to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
The programme also featured an act play by 6th Semester Political Science students, followed by a pledge-taking ceremony led by Assistant Professor and Program Officer, NSS, Dr. Nurul Islam.
A total of 262 attendees, 215 NSS volunteers, 25 non-teaching staff, 20 faculties (including Principal and Vice-Principal) attended the event. The students, teachers and non-teaching staff of the college were apprised with the latest information of the narcotics by the resource persons.
