Silas Care Centre, a rehabilitation centre for women struggling with substance abuse was inaugurated in Dimapur on August 22. An initiative of Silas Care & Welfare Society (SCWS), it is said to be the first such facility for women in Nagaland.
Located near the Indisen Futsal ground, the centre was dedicated by Rev Kika, Associate Pastor, Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo. The Administrator of Silas Care and Welfare Society, R Nuklu Longkumer, informed that the facility was the second drug rehabilitation centre run by the society.

While it was the society’s first women only centre, Longkumer said that it has already assisted 50-plus women. It is already running a 3-month programme for which around 10 women have signed up. He added that the duration of rehabilitation, with a nominal one-time payment, can vary depending on the needs of the client.
The other one, established at 6th Mile, Lahorijan, Karbi Anglong, is for men, where more than 30 clients are undergoing rehabilitation.
The SCWS, started in November 2017, describes itself as a faith based non-denominational and non-profit organisation, “With a vision to provide a home for prayer, counselling and restoration, who are in need of holistic care and support.”
Besides working in the area of drug rehabilitation, it also runs outreach programmes, counselling, day care for senior citizens and vocational classes. For care and counselling services, anyone in need can walk in to its office located at Kashiram village.
