Nagaland records 70,558 registered job seekers; 40% graduates or Above

As of December 31, 2024, Nagaland recorded a total of 70,558 registered job seekers, according to the Annual Administrative Report (AAR) 2024-25 of the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Nagaland.

 
 

Out of the total, 28,103 applicants — constituting 39.83% — were graduates or above. This included 20,599 graduates, 5,625 postgraduates, and 1,879 technical degree holders.

Gender-wise, there were 50,413 male applicants against 20,145 female applicants. The data was based on job seekers registered in the live register of employment exchanges across Nagaland, as presented by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Additionally, 11,209 job seekers had completed Class 12 (Pre-University), while 12,603 were matriculates. A total of 18,118 were below matriculate, and 525 were diploma holders.

The AAR noted that this was the second consecutive year of decline in registered job seekers. The figure stood at 72,751 as of December 31, 2022, which fell to 70,936 in 2023, and further dropped to 70,558 in 2024.

 
 

Meanwhile, the Self-Employment Promotion Cell (SEPC) under the Regional Employment Exchange in Kohima registered 1,374 candidates as of December 31, 2024. Out of these, 142 individuals were successfully placed in various self-employment initiatives, the report highlighted.
In terms of persons with disabilities (PWD), 1,077 individuals were registered at the live employment exchange.

Regarding employment in the organised sector in Nagaland, the report stated that as of December 31, 2024, there were 92,058 employed individuals — 85,746 in the public sector and 6,312 in the private sector.
