Kohima, October 10 (MExN): Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of Investment & Development Authority of India (IDAN) met with the Consul General of United States in Kolkata. Accompanying him was Theja Meru, Chairman of the Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA). Director of the American Centre, Elizabeth Lee, was also present at the meeting, as per the state IPR report.
The discussions centered on the potential for collaboration, fostering people-to-people contacts, and strengthening bilateral ties between India and the United States. The participants explored various plans and strategies for partnership in diverse areas, including culture, music, arts, investment opportunities, education, and youth activities.
Posting on X (formerly twitter), Abu Metha wrote, “We discussed future partnerships and deliberated on matters related to enhancing people-to-people contact, cultural collaborations and strengthening ties. A number of ideas aimed at creating opportunities for the youth, promoting music & arts, investment possibilities, etc were discussed and we are looking forward to exciting times ahead.”
During the meeting, Abu Metha emphasised the keen interest of the State Government in welcoming US officials’ participation in the upcoming Hornbill Festival. He expressed optimism about positive partnerships in the months and years ahead, aiming to bring the people of both countries closer for mutual benefit, the DIPR report stated.
Theja Meru highlighted the State Government’s initiatives in the field of music and creative arts while elaborating on the various collaborations undertaken by TAFMA.
Mention maybe made that Melinda Pavek had previously been a special guest at the Hornbill Festival. Additionally, both Abu Metha and Theja Meru are alumni of the US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
