53rd Ura Academy Seminar concludes

A three day long 53rd Ura Academy Seminar concluded at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima on May 26.

In the first formal session, the Tenyidie Kephrünuoko Krotho (TKK) conducted student session with Vipinuo Kehie, HoD, Department of Tenyidie, Dimapur Government College as the guest speaker.

Kehie encouraged the students to take up Tenyidie as a subject. She exhorted the students on moral life and asked them to maintain obedience, respect and honor to parents and elders.

The programme was chaired by Petevilie Ketho, President, TKK. Thinuohelie Sachü, Pastor BRC Kohima Village invoked God’s blessing. Welcome address was delivered by Khrieketoulie Chadi, Vice President, TKK while special number was presented by Seyiekruonuo Yhome.

The second session was marked literary competitions in debate, poetry writing, story writing and essay writing. Gracing the third session (Choral competition), Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, Task Force for Music & Arts (TafMA), spoke on the importance and benefits of music.

 In valedictory session, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, president, Ura Academy said that language is one of the greatest semblance of culture and pointed out the need to preserve and develop the same.

Tenyidie is one the most developed Naga language as it has been introduced at the University level and had celebrated 25 years last year, said Dr Liezietsu and called upon the scholars be an agent to promote Tenyidie language. He also emphasized on role of church leaders in usage of language and urged upon them to use Tenyidie language which would act as catalyst for promotion of the language.

Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie, treasurer Ura Academy also exhorted the gathering. Sahu Peseyie assisted as pianist. Rev Savito Nagi, president ABCC invoked God’s blessing.

The third session was also marked by folk tune by Thüküvelü Sakhamo and friends, special presentation by Hill Brothers, Tenyidie Department, Nagaland University and Northfield HSS (Winner of the choral competition). Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. D. Kuolie, secretary general, Ura Academy.

The Organizing Committee of the seminar was led by Daso Paphino, vice president, Ura Academy and Kereivilie Kire, secretary, Ura Academy as seminar co-ordinator.
