Nagaland Govt welcomes B20 delegates in Kohima

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on behalf of the people of Nagaland, today welcomed the G20 delegates who arrived for the Business Meet (B20) in Kohima. The delegates were accorded a warm welcome through colouful cultural performances over dinner at Capital Cultural Hall this evening.

The delegates took a glimpse of the tribal colours through song and dance.

 “We still lack in infrastructural developmental activities. But we have a good nature and weather with greeneries and about 80 % forest cover. So, basically, we live with Mother Nature,” the Chief Minister stated. He further spoke of the rich tradition and culture of the Naga people which have been preserved. 

Rio noted that the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 protected the Nagas and even in the Indian Union, the Government of India has given special protection in the Indian Constitution under Article 371 A. “And that is how we could continue to promote our rich traditions and our cultures and our usages,” Rio said.

The CM hoped that the delegates would find their stay in Nagaland pleasant and have a “Nagaland experience.”
The evening’s dinner was arranged by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Later, the CM released a book entitled ‘Nagaland- An Emerging Investment Destination.’ The book is published by the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) which explains the investment opportunities in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, a conference on Opportunities for Multilateral Business Partnerships in Agriculture & Food Processing, Tourism & IT will take place on April 5 at State Banquet Hall, Kohima from 9:00 AM onwards.

Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio will deliver the keynote address.

The conference will also be addressed by representatives from other countries—Alejandro Simancas, Ambassador (Cuba), Gudni Bragason, Ambassador (Iceland), Jason Keats Mathew Hall, High Commissioner (Jamaica), Yasiel Burillo, Ambassador and Consul General (Panama), Fleming Raul Duarte, Ambassador (Paraguay) and Manfred Auster, Consul General (Germany).
