The issue of coming out with an official interpretation of the Article 371 (A) is being discussed at the highest level and at the appropriate forum, Nagaland Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Power, KG Kenye maintained on Thursday.
The Minister was responding to a query on whether there is a probability that Article 371 (A) is being interpreted by the people of the State as per the conveniences here today at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.
‘We have too many dobashis and interpreters where every second person interprets Article 371 (A) in his/her own views and opinions,’ he maintained, adding: “Unfortunately, we have never had an official translation and interpretation of the Article 371 (A).”
Accordingly, Kenye opined that it is an appropriate time for the official version of the Article 371 (A), and further informed that matters is being discussed in the highest level and at the appropriate forum that it ‘should immediately be interpreted and that will be the official version of the state.’
When queried who would be interpreting, he said this will be discuss in the people’s house however, adding that it would be the law makers.
Thereafter, the 60 members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly will arrive at a consensus and unanimous decision and ‘we will come out with the official interpretations,’ he added.
