LONGLENG, MARCH 26 (MExN): Nagaland Governor La Ganesan visited Tamlu subdivision in Longleng district on March 25, where he met with government officials, civil society representatives and local leaders to discuss development issues and challenges faced by the region.

The Governor’s visit included a brief program at the Multi Training Centre in Tamlu, where Additional Deputy Commissioner T. Lankonsen Tsanglao welcomed the gathering and presented an overview of the subdivision. Governor Ganesan highlighted that his visit had two main objectives- to evaluate ongoing development efforts in sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure, and to listen to the community’s concerns to better align policies with local needs.

“My mission here is simple—to listen, learn, and collaborate. Development is a collective effort,” said Governor Ganesan, who acknowledged the challenges faced by government departments, particularly in improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture. He commended both government officials and civil society groups for their ongoing contributions despite these challenges.

The Governor also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and civil society organizations in driving progress. He encouraged community leaders to promote peace and unity and urged the youth to embrace good citizenship and respect for the law.

MLA B Bangtick Phom also addressed the gathering highlighting the region’s progress over the past two years. However, he raised concerns about the long-standing border disputes between Namsang villages and Assam’s Ahom community, urging the Governor to intervene in the matter. Phom also called for the revival of critical infrastructure projects in the area.

The event saw participation from several local leaders and representatives, including YB Angam Phom, W Tingken Konyak, and others, who discussed local issues affecting the community.

Governor Ganesan’s visit also included a security coordination meeting with district administration and police officials. Earlier in the day, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome at the Tamlu public ground and received a guard of honor at the ADC Office.
