Zunheboto, September 11 (MExN): Atoizu Police Station under Zunheboto district was inaugurated by Er Picto Shohe MLA 32 A/C, Atoizu on September 9 in the presence of Joseph Hesso IPS, Dy Inspector General of Police, Nagaland; Khekali Y Sema, NPS, SP Zunheboto; Atoizu Area GB Association; Nukutulu S Venuh, NCS, ADC Atoizu, public leaders, GBs and civil societies.
Addressing the inaugural function, Picto said that after his formal request to CM Neiphiu Rio and Dy CM Y Patton, the long aspirations of upgradation of Atoizu Police outpost has been approved and “finally become full-fledged Atoizu Police Station today.”
Picto urged the gathering that people in the region should work together and cooperate with the District Administration and police, “obey the laws for our own good as responsible citizens,” stated a press release issued by the Media Cell, NDPP 32 A/C Atoizu Division.
Khekali Y Sema, NPS, SP Zunheboto in the opening remarks said that Atoizu Police Station is located of about 22 Km away from District Hq Zunheboto. Atoizu Police outpost was established in 1974 and it has now been upgraded into full fledged Atoizu Police Station which will cover 22 villages under its functional jurisdiction. Sema also said that much is need to be initiated with the setting up of Atoizu Police Station in terms infrastructural development, man power reinforcement and assured to work together in the day ahead.
She appealed the gathering to support each other in building a peaceful atmosphere and co-operate with the subordinate officers and personals and to maintain peace and harmony in the region.
Further, Sema said that her officers and personals main concern will be crime detection and prevention to promote peace atmosphere and mentioned that Zunheboto police is seriously dealing with the war against drugs. She also urged civil societies such as Hoho and students union organization to work together to fight against such illegal activities in the district.
Joesph Hesso IPS, Dy IGP (HQR) in his short speech highlighted the urban and rural police stations and said that the with the upgradation of Atoizu Police Station it would cover under rural police station for the administrative conveniences. Further, Hesso assured that he will also give his best to improve more basic infrastructural development in the days ahead.
On behalf of Atoizu public, Er Hukato Shohe, President, Atoizu Area GB Association thanked Er Picto Shohe and people who have supported the project. “These developments are public properties therefore, people should take care and co-operate for more development in the region,” he stated.
Nukutulu S Venuh NCS, ADC Atoizu described the day as the ‘Red Letter Day’ for Atoizu citizens and thanked the State government for approving the project.
Earlier, Er Picto Shohe laid a foundation stone of Atoizu Police Station wherein Vekhrolo Koza NPS, Addl SP, Zunheboto chaired the programme and Rev Mulato Chishi, Executive Secretary, SBAK (Aizuto) pronounced an invocation followed by Hoketo Yeptho, Pastor, Police Baptist Church Zunheboto benediction prayer.
