Nagaland CM visits Tuli, assures action on paper mill and railway station

Tuli, March 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Chief Minister, Dr Neiphiu Rio today assured the State Government’s action on the Tuli paper mill and railway station issues during an official visit to the sub-division. 

On railway connectivity, he announced that the State Government had engaged in discussions with the Ministry of Railways to upgrade services in the area. CM Rio assured that efforts would be made to extend the facility beyond goods transport to include passenger services, enhancing accessibility for the people.

Meanwhile, concerning Nagaland Pulp & Paper Company (NPPC) Limited, popularly referred to as Tuli Paper Mill, CM Rio reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to restoring its operations. He also highlighted the ongoing coordination with 3ACSL Company to facilitate the mill’s revival, a long-standing concern for the people of the region, ensuring employment opportunities and industrial growth.

 

As per a State DIPR report, CM Rio’s official visit to the Tuli sub-division under Mokokchung district, was aimed at assessing developmental projects and interacting with local communities. After arriving at Tzudikong Town helipad, he visited Wameken Village and inaugurated a newly constructed Wameken Village Council Hall (Panchayat Bhavan).

The CM’s itinerary also included a stop at the Sentimeren Memorial Watch Tower at Kangtsung Village, and thereafter to Longnakba Lenden Tuli Railway Station. He later visited the ongoing Foothills road construction site under the division, emphasising the importance of better road infrastructure for economic and social development, the DIPR report highlighted.

CM Rio also expressed his happiness over the active participation of the public in the construction of the Foothill Road, acknowledging their cooperation as a driving force behind the project. He assured that the government remains committed to improving connectivity and infrastructure in the region.

Addressing the local populace and discussing government policies, ongoing projects, and future plans for the region, CM Rio emphasised the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ or a developed India by 2047, the hundredth year of India’s independence. Thus, he called for collective efforts from the people to accelerate progress in all sectors.

He also underscored the dignity of labour, urging people to respect all forms of work and cultivate a self-reliant attitude.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir; Advisor for Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, A Pangjung Jamir; Advisor for Geology & Mining and DUDA, W Chingwang Konyak; MLA, Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe; and MLA, Benei M Lamthiu, among others.

The Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sentiwapang Aier, along with heads of departments and administrators from Mokokchung headquarters and Tuli Sub-Division, were also part of the entourage.
