Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) units of four districts- Kohima, Phek, Tseminyu and Peren today made a fervent plea to BJP central and state leaders to give a cabinet berth to Er Kropol Vitsu.
Er Vitsu was elected on BJP ticket from 15th Southern Angami-II Assembly Constituency in the 14th state assembly elections held on February 27.
Making this plea during a joint press conference at Nagaland State BJP head office here today, Kohima district BJP president Khrielie Usou said that Er Vitsu is the lone elected legislator of BJP from the 4 districts of Kohima, Phek, Tseminyu and Peren (Tenyimia) which has 14 assembly constituencies.
As such, the four district BJP leaders requested the central leaders as well as the state leaders to give a cabinet berth to Er Vitsu during the formation of the new government in the state.
“He (Er Vitsu) has a big role and vast area to cover,” he said, adding that once the opportunity is given, the latter would work for the upliftment and growth of BJP party for all the 14 constituencies of 4 districts.
He said that in Eastern Nagaland, there are 20 assembly constituencies of which BJP allotted 8 tickets and won 4 seats. In the districts of Mokokchung, Zunheboto and Wokha, there are 21 assembly constituencies, in which BJP allotted 9 tickets and 5 won. In Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts, there are 5 assembly constituencies in which BJP allotted 2 tickets and both won. Similarly, in Kohima, Peren, Tseminyu and Phek districts, there are 14 assembly constituencies, in which BJP allotted one ticket and won.
On being asked whether they have submitted any formal letter to the BJP leaders regarding their request for cabinet berth for Er Vitsu, Usou said that they are yet to do the same.
Stating that BJP is a decisive and a very broadminded leadership party, Usou was hopeful that “they (BJP leaders) will definitely listen to our plea.”
Other who present at the press conference included Huzantabo Meriam, president BJP Peren District, S Pusai Rhakho, vice president BJP Phek district and Thomas Magh, BJP state executive member, representing Tseminyu BJP district.
