Kohima, June 19 (MExN): The National Conference for Foundational Literacy & Numeracy under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Education took place from June 17 to 18 at Savitribai Phule, Pune University as part of 4th G20 Education Working Group (EdWG) Meeting with the theme, ‘Creating the Base for Lifelong Learning.
The conference is part of EdWG Meeting, which will continue till June 22.
A one-day seminar on “Foundational Literacy & Numeracy, especially in the context of Blended Mode of Learning is also scheduled on June 19 to be attended by members of G20 countries.
Annpurna Devi, the Union Minister of State for Education, graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest on June 17.
The sub-theme of the conference includes “Teaching Learning Approaches and Pedagogy for FLN in the context of Multilingualism” and “Capacity building and training of teachers in Blended Mode”.
Thematic expert panel discussion sessions were presented by the eminent subject experts from IIM,NIAS, CSTT, MOE, NIEPA,CBSE and CBC, GoI.
Presentations were also made by states on best practices in Foundational Literacy & Numeracy.
Deepak Kesarkar , Minister School Education Maharashtra , Chandra Patil, Minister Higher & Technical Education Maharashtra, Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Educationist, Actor and film maker and Prof. Suresh Gosavi , Vice Chancellor SPPU also spoke in the conference.
The focus of the conference is on strengthening Foundational Literacy & Numeracy in the country by improving the overall ecosystem of school education.

During the 4th G20 EdWG meeting, states and UTs are exhibiting various initiatives in Foundational Literacy & Numeracy, Blended Learning, and Toy-Based Pedagogy in which Nagaland is also participating in the G20 exhibition.
Nagaland School Education department team is led by Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary School Education and SCERT and Temsunaro Aier, State Mission Director Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland.
The exhibition will continue till June 22.
