Nagaland: Agri dept hold introductory meeting with new advisor, APC

The Department of Agriculture, Nagaland held an introductory meeting with Advisor of Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan and Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), R Binchilo Thong at Hotel Vivor, Kohima on March 22.

Addressing at the meeting, Yanthan urged the officers and staffs to extend their cooperation to take the department forward. With the advancement of new technology, Yanthan stated that modern technology system of farming should be adopted and applied to the agriculture.

He encouraged that farming and cropping systems have to change to integrated system of farming which has a lot of challenges in the field of agriculture.

Agriculture department is the mother department of all the agri-allied department, he said and encouraged the department to take a lead to determine for sustaining future and to generate employment through farming.

Thong, IAS also encouraged the staff for transformation and upgrading of agriculture in the state.

He further reminded the Field officers to compulsorily be in their respective places of posting as the main Kharif cropping season is approaching. He said that necessary agricultural advisory should be disseminated to the farmers in time.

During the introductory meeting, a power point presentation on overview of the department activities and action plan was highlighted by Additional Director, Jacob Yanthan. The meeting was chaired by Agriculture Director, M Ben Yanthan while vote of thanks was delivered by C Peter Yanthan, Additional Director of Agriculture.
