Naga medical student from Ukraine reach India

A Naga girl pursuing medical course in Ukraine has reached New Delhi safely on Wednesday. It was learnt that the student Olika Mlato Shikhu reached New Delhi via Rzeszow, Poland in a special flight Wednesday morning at 10 am. She will be flown to Nagaland on March 3.

Also, a girl from Dimapur, Devika Jain, studying at Odessa National Medical University, Ukraine reportedly reached Mumbai on February 18, 2022. It was learnt that she was still in Mumbai at her paternal uncle’s place at the time the Dimapur administration officers met her father Pradeep Kumar Jain on March 2.

Taking to twitter, state chief minister Neiphiu Rio expressed gratitude to the government of India. Rio also requested the Centre to ensure the safe return of all Indian citizens.

State deputy CM, Y Patton also expressed gratitude to the Centre for the safe return of Naga student from Ukraine.

He especially lauded the Prime Minister Modi for all his efforts in leading the mission ‘Operation Ganga’ for evacuation of Indians from Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

Patton also thanked the Union Home Minister, Defence Minister and Minister of External Affairs, their officers and staff including those posted in foreign embassies.

According to Dy.CMO media cell, the deputy chief minister was also constantly monitoring the arrangements. He said that the state government was putting in all its efforts and logistics in locating and bringing back all those Nagas still awaiting evacuation.

Patton assured to extend all possible assistance from his end to those stranded Nagas till their safe return.

BJP State forms panel to assist Naga stranded in Ukraine: BJP Nagaland unit has constituted a four-member committee to assist and help those Naga students who were still stranded in crisis-hit Ukraine as per the Central government directive.

In a communique, the party appealed to family members of those stranded Naga students to contact committee’s convener Subenthung (mobile no. 8787321545), Thsangse (8787839217), Kavili (8257959410) and Eduzu (9436000400) for any help or assistance.

Assuring to extend all possible help and support to those Naga students through the provided helplines, the party said the information collected therein would be incorporated and forwarded to Central government for further necessary action with utmost priority.

As part of efforts to bring back the stranded Indian nationals from the war-torn Ukraine, the party claimed that the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had formed a Special Task Force of ministers to evacuate Indians under “Operation Ganga”. So far, hundreds of students had already been evacuated from Ukraine, while others were in process of being evacuated at the earliest possible time.
